Crystal J. has been making art since she was a child, but she is currently an interior designer who has recently rekindled a long-standing interest in silk painting. She first learned the French Serti technique of silk painting in a fabric design course at Virginia Commonwealth University.
She uses satin and habotai silk to create small-scale works of art for the home and body.
The crystal j. collections include fashion accessories like headscarves and belts; and pillows to accessorize the home. The pillow collection combines the techniques of silk painting and quilting.
She designs all of the patterns and hand-mixes all of the dyes in the crystal j. accessory collections.
