Modern Vintage can be described as simply as it reads… A combination of old and new. A jewelry line derived from many levels and elements of what the fashion industry is founded on… detailed and handmade using only top quality sterling silver and 14k gold-filled components, semi-precious stones, a beautiful variety of shells and corals along with crystals, Italian vintage glass - a mix of rare vintage and unique findings. Each collection is created with antique inspired quality in both craftsmanship, as well as style. Although many signature pieces are actually made with the combining of rare and hand selected treasures from fashions' past... the featured collections have the vintage ambiance, as well as character about them, yet have been updated to suit our modern need for supply and demand. Now, all can share a piece of history, while today, history is already made with Modern Vintage.

Modern Vintage has a history all of it's own. The designer, Michelle Tenace, age 25, started making pieces from her grandmothers' jewelry that had been given to Michelle soon after her passing. Always loving the idea of "dressing up", Michelle remembers her grandmother as the "accessory queen". "I have always taken after her ever since I was a little girl," says Michelle. Her other grandmother, Julie or Busha (Polish), helped raise Michelle while she was in high school and, oddly enough, the two of them seemed to have similar tastes in fashion. At a young age, Julie had been a runway model and seamstress... two influences that seemingly allowed her creativity to blossom and eccentricity to be uninhibited. "I emulated my grandmother's taste in fashion which labeled me as the odd one in my family. We both took that as a compliment... "Why would you want to be the same as everyone else? That's no fun!" my Grandma would say.
"I am thankful that I had such an amazing woman in my life who encouraged my artistic spirit." Because of Michelle's love for past years' antique fashion she wanted to make Modern Vintage wearable for a wider spectrum of people, so that they too may play dress-up. "I feel that one's inner sense of fashion is like a child and the more each of us opens up and has fun with her individualistic style, the more they may appreciate the history and evolution that makes this aspect of the fashion industry to amazing."
